Meet Hikvision’s newest Compact Eco Recorders with built-in SSD

Hikvision's latest range of 'Eco' DVR's and NVR's are designed to be more energy efficient, quieter and more reliable than their predecessors by utilising the power of a built-in SSD (Solid State Drive) hard drive. 


Ultra-Compact Size

SSD's are much more compact than standard HDD drives, partly thanks to the fact that they have no moving parts. By taking advantage of this size difference, Hikvision have managed to design their smallest recorders to date, without compromising on quality or features. 


When viewed alongside the similarly specked Hikvision 7204HQHI-K1/2S, the size difference quickly becomes apparent.

What are the advantages of a Solid State Hard Drive over a conventional Hard Disk Drive?

Hard Disk Drives (HDD) have been the industry standard storage devices for years and come in a variety of sizes, but they are not without their drawbacks. HDDs use mechanical spinning disks and a moving read/write head to access data. These moving parts are very delicate and can easily be damaged if knocked or dropped. Solid State Drives rely on memory chips and have no moving parts, making them much less prone to accidental damage.

SSD's utilise flash memory which can be accessed instantly, resulting in speeds that far outpace those of HDD's. When moving big files, HDDs can copy 30 to 150 MB per second (MB/s), while standard SATA SSDs perform the same action at speeds of 500 MB/s.

The increase in speed and lack of moving parts (which generate heat and sound) ensure that SSD are more efficient and kinder to the planet by using less energy.


Speed up installation jobs and reduce call backs

The Hikvision Eco recorders come with the hard drive pre-installed, making on-site hard drive installations a thing of the past. 

The sturdy SSD drive eliminates both the need to carry spare hard drives to jobs (in case one gets dropped or damaged), and call backs to replace damaged drives after the job has been completed, making the installations quicker and more cost effective.

The smaller footprint and discreet design will make finding a home for the recorder much easier too. The iDS-E04HUHI-B model pictured here is only 151mm x 121mm x 46mm.
